The symbols behind AltGr

# & _ \ [ ] { }, and where they sit per keyboard

The webshop runs on templates: Dear {name}, order #2041, file names with an underscore. Hélène asks you to fill them in.

The third layer

A keyboard has three layers: plain, with Shift and with AltGr. On Belgian AZERTY most symbols sit behind AltGr: # on 3, { and } on 9 and 0, [ and ] right of P, \ next to the left Shift. The & sits plainly on 1, the _ with Shift on the hyphen key.

On QWERTY you mostly use Shift: & on 7, _ on the hyphen key, { and } on the keys of [ and ]. On a British keyboard # has a key of its own next to Enter. Watch the keys that light up on your keyboard.
