E and I
Middle fingers up: your first words
Jess shows you a list of callers. "All vowels," she laughs. With E and I you can type your first real words.
One row up
E sits up and to the left of D, I up and to the left of K. Your middle fingers reach for them and come straight back to D and K.
The rest of your hand stays put. That way you find the next key after E or I without searching.
Real words, and practice words
With f, j, d, k, e and i you can already type a few real words, like did, kid and feed. There aren't enough for a whole line yet, so the exercise fills up with practice words: they sound like words, but you won't find them in a dictionary.
Every new key makes more real words possible.
