The hundred most used words

The words that come back in every text

Sam hands you the first film: a family film full of short lines. "Half of what people say is the same hundred words," he says. "Those have to come by themselves."

A hundred words, half the text

The hundred most used words of English (the, of, and, to, a, in, is, that, for, it) make up about half of every text. Whoever types those words without thinking has already typed half the film.

From now on, quick counts as well as right: after every line you see your speed. A subtitle is at most two lines of forty-two characters and stays on screen for only a few seconds.
