Numbers in text
Dates, times, amounts and phone numbers
The auction sends a report to the growers every day: when, at what time, how much and for what price. Rik wants every number right, down to the decimal point.
Numbers with a shape
Many numbers have a fixed shape. A date: 12-05-2026. A time: 7:30. An amount with a decimal point: 12.50 pounds. A phone number in groups: 07700 900 123.
In English you write a point before the decimals; a comma groups the thousands. There are no spaces between the digits of a number, except in a phone number.
